My journey began more than a decade ago with a simple love of fabric. I came across a fabulous fabric that I HAD TO HAVE but it was really expensive. All I could afford was a small piece that was only large enough to make a purse. From that first project, sewing became my creative outlet and eventually a deep passion. Over time, I moved from simple accessories to designing and sewing my own clothes because I simply could not find clothing that fit my style in retail stores.
As the years went on, I began learning about the environmental cost of fast fashion. Watching documentaries that showed mountains of discarded clothing polluting communities in developing countries changed how I viewed my craft. So much of what we throw away—clothing with a small tear, a grease stain, or simply out of style can be revitalized into something new and unique. That realization inspired and challenged me to do more with what others might see as waste.
That’s where Remade in the Shade was born. In addition to creating one-of-a-kind pieces, I also offer fabric and textile supplies for others who share the same passion for sustainable creation. Whether it’s upcycled textiles, remnant fabrics from my own stash, or rescued materials ready for a second life, I love helping others join the movement toward mindful, creative reuse.
Remade in the Shade isn’t just about fashion—it’s about preserving beauty, reducing waste, and giving new life to forgotten things. Every piece tells a story, stitched with care for both people and the planet.
